Installation & Care
Everything you need to install your triptych, find the right spacing and keep your Dromeda set looking its best.
Let's get it on the wall.
We've kept installation simple. Instead of measuring the exact mounting-hole positions, you'll use painter's tape to transfer them directly from each skateboard deck onto your wall.
What you'll need
Choose your spacing
Before you start, decide how much space you'd like between your three decks. We generally recommend between a 2" (approx. 5 cm) or 3" (approx. 7.5 cm) gap. You'll find our spacing guide below.
Start with the centre deck
Position the centre skateboard where you'd like the finished triptych to sit. Take a moment to check the overall height and position — this deck will become the reference point for the rest of the installation.
Tape & mark
Place a strip of painter's tape across the mounting points on the back of the centre deck. Use a pencil to mark the exact centre of each mounting point directly onto the tape.
Transfer it to the wall
Carefully peel the tape from the deck and place it onto the wall at your chosen position. Put your spirit level against the tape and adjust it until the two mounting marks are level.
Install the mounts
Drill or install your appropriate wall fixings directly at the two pencil marks. Remove the painter's tape, then secure the supplied Dromeda mounts.
Hang the centre deck
Hang your centre deck and check that you're happy with its height and position before moving on. It's much easier to make an adjustment now than after all three decks are mounted.
Build out the triptych
Use the centre deck as your reference. Position the left deck beside it using your chosen 2" or 3" gap, then repeat the painter's-tape process to transfer its mounting points. Once the left deck is installed, repeat the same process for the right deck.
Step back & make it yours
Check the alignment and spacing from a few steps back. Make any final adjustments, then you're done.
How much space should I leave?
There isn't one correct way to display your Dromeda. The space around the artwork, other objects on the wall and the role you want the piece to play in the room can all influence how you hang it.
2" / approx. 5 cm gap
We recommend at least a 2-inch gap when your Dromeda set is sharing the wall with other visual elements.
If it's being displayed near other artwork, shelving, furniture or a television, the tighter spacing helps the three decks read more clearly as one piece without competing with everything around them.
3" / approx. 7.5 cm gap
We recommend closer to a 3-inch gap when your Dromeda set is intended to be the centrepiece of the wall.
With more open space around the installation, the wider spacing gives each deck more room to breathe and allows the triptych to occupy more of the wall. It really hits as a statement piece when the set stands alone.
Your piece. Your space.
These measurements are recommendations, not rules.
Every wall and every room is different. If you prefer your decks closer together, further apart or arranged in a way that works better in your space, make it yours. The most important thing is that you're happy with how your Dromeda looks on your wall.
Why inches? Skateboard dimensions are traditionally expressed in inches. Each Dromeda deck follows traditional skateboard proportions at approximately 31" × 8", so we've kept the same measurement system when referring to spacing. Metric equivalents are included for convenience.
Keep it looking its best.
Dromeda pieces are made from genuine maple skateboard decks. A little care will help preserve the artwork and finish over time.
Keep it clean
Remove dust gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth.
Avoid harsh cleaners
Don't use chemical cleaners, solvents or abrasive cleaning products on the printed surface.
Consider sunlight
As with most artwork, avoiding prolonged direct sunlight will help preserve its appearance over time.
Keep it dry
Avoid excessive moisture, damp areas and prolonged exposure to high humidity.
